-The Sabbats-

To the lay person, these are the Olde Pagan holidays celebrated in balance and harmony with the changing seasons. However, the cycle of the Sabbats are said to represent the Goddess and God in their journey through the year. Through the cycle the Goddess never dies. The start of the Pagan calender sees the Goddess mourning the loss of the God, but she is with child and gives birth to a new but the same God at Yule. She is revived and becomes young again. As I shall explain later, She travels on with the young God, who grows and eventually they reproduce another God. Before this God is born, the present God dies and the Goddess, now a crone, mourns his loss and so the cycle starts again.

Now, this is one element of the cycle that for some time I had difficulty in accepting - the fact that with each Son the Goddess produces, She gives birth to a further Son in an endless cycle. It's OK to question and also this shows clearly that you should not follow blindly. In time I began to see that the Goddess and God were symbols for the elements around us. The elements, animal, trees, etc represented by the Sun God, go through cycles of birth, growth and death, whereas the symbols represented by the Moon Goddess - Earth Mother, represent growth and rebirth. I said before, it takes time to understand and learn Witchcraft, and this should clearly show you that it is easy for the misrepresentation of others to make you see things inaccurately.
