Russia Proposes 'Ban On Emo And Goth Fashion In Schools.
Fans of Emo and Goth fashion in Russia have protested against their government’s attempt to ban the look from schools.
Dozens of people took to the streets yesterday (July 20th) in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk.
They argue that the proposed laws, which will also censor text messages, violate their freedom of speech.
"How can you stop people from expressing themselves, from dressing how they like, from living a way of life that doesn't harm anyone?” one female protestor told the Associated Foreign Press.
'Encourage Suicide'
Russian lawmakers are said to be fearful following media reports that the movement, which began in America in the 1980s, encourages suicide, REN TV television reports.
The proposals were given broad approval last month and are expected to be draft as law in the coming months.
Recently, a coroner in the inquest into the death of a teenage girl in the UK expressed his concern about her devotion to Emo music."

on the NHS in the near future, a study says. The British Medical Journal study
found one in 10 people - and nearly half of all younger women - had a body piercing
other than on the earlobe.

Appeal over Goth murder sentence
Two teenage boys jailed for life for the murder of a woman who was killed for
dressing as a Goth have lodged an appeal against their sentences. Sophie Lancaster,
20, was kicked and stamped to death by Brendan Harris, 15, and Ryan Herbert, 16,
in Stubbylee Park in Bacup, Lancashire, last summer.

A 15-year-old boy kicked and stamped to death a woman because
she was dressed as a Goth, a court heard. The drunk teenager was among a gang
of five who "savagely and mercilessly" attacked Sophie Lancaster,
20, and her boyfriend, Preston Crown Court heard. Miss Lancaster was begging
the gang to stop beating Robert Maltby, 21, when they turned on her in Stubbylee
Park in Bacup, Lancashire, the jury was told. The 15-year-old, who cannot
be named because of his age, denies murder.

 The Cure are to play a sell
out concert at Wembley Arena on 20th March 2008. Tickets for this concert sold
out on release day and even the fan club didn't hear about the concert til after
the tickets had all but sold out.
It is also rumoured that
a new Cure studio album is in the offing. As soon as we know anything, we shall
